- BEFORE USING, READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL LABEL INSTRUCTIONS AND MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS.
- For technical advice call our Loba-Wakol Technical Service at 1-800.230.6456.
- Transfer material to a LOBA coating bucket before applying.
- Optimum climate conditions are 60°F to 80°F (15°C to 25°C), relative humidity 40% to 75%, material temperature 60°F to 80°F (15°C to 25°C).
- Do not apply to surfaces exposed to hot or strong sunlight, as the applied coating may dry too quickly. Do not apply if rain is expected within 3 hours of application.
- If in doubt, create a test area to determine compatibility, adhesion and appearance. The results may vary depending on the type of wood, especially with oily, resinous and chemically pre-treated woods.
- Avoid drips falling on the surface, smooth out any drips immediately with a brush.
- WARNING! If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint from wood floors, you may release lead dust. Follow local and/or federal requirements for lead removal. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and others by contacting the National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.
Application Tool
Brush or LOBA Oilbrush
Coverage
140-200 square feet per 2.5l unit. Determine the exact coverage with a test application.
Drying time
Three areas of application, one procedure.
Degray old oiled decks- The special formulation allows you to remove wood graying.
Clean and prepare old finished deck for re-finishing- Optimal preparation for secure adhesion of the subsequent finish layer.
Newly laid deck, open pores, wash out wood ingredients from surface- Woods with a high content of wood ingredients, especially coniferous and exotic woods, tend to accumulate on the surface of the wood, e.g. teak that has not been freshly sanded even feels oily.
- In order to achieve an optimal bond between our products and the wood, these wood ingredients, resins and oils, must be washed off the surface. This opens the pores of the wood surface as well and the products can be better absorbed.
Application
- Remove loose dirt with broom in advance.
- Moisten the surface with water first to prevent LOBA Degrayer from drying too quickly.
- Apply LOBA DeckDegrayer undiluted with a brush or LOBA oil brush to the wood to be cleaned.
- Allow material to react for approx. 10 minutes.
- To prepare the surface, we recommend a cleaning machine suitable for wooden decks (automatic suction and scrubbing machine, high-pressure cleaner with corresponding attachment, etc.). Alternatively, use a scrubber or brush to work the surface along the wood grain.
- Then rinse the entire surface with clear water or spray it with a garden hose. In case of very stubborn soiling, repeat the treatment or allow LOBA DeckDegrayer to work for a longer time.
- After drying, optionally break up wood fibers with a steel broom or disc machine and LOBASAND SuperPad green to achieve a smoother surface. Re-oil with LOBA DeckOil or coat with LOBA DeckPrepare and LOBA DeckFinish. Refer to the Technical Data Sheet of the product.
